Earth Day 🌏is a worldwide event held on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection and sustainable practices in over 192 countries. It serves as day to reflect upon the importance of caring for our home planet.

A healthy environment is the foundation of human life.

Currently, we are putting the planet under enormous pressure. We’re depleting the Earth’s natural resources, destabilizing the climate, polluting its air and water, and driving many of its species to extinction.

That’s why it’s so important for each of us to play our part in making conscious decisions with the health of the planet in mind.

Knowledge is power 🌈

  • Americans throw away enough plastic bottles each year to circle the Earth 🌎4 times.

  • 91% of plastic produced isn’t recycled.

  • Recycling an aluminum can provides enough energy to power a computer or tv for 3 hours.

  • Every year, an estimated 8 million tons of plastic waste ends up in the world’s oceans.

  • In just over 40 years, the world has witnessed a 60% decline in wildlife populations across sea, land, and freshwater environments. 😢

The truth isn’t always easy to digest. And the goal in sharing these facts is not to make you feel uneasy— but rather to empower you to be the change that our world very much needs.

Earth day matters because our planet matters. It’s the only home we have, and the power to change the direction in which we’re headed lies within our hands. If we continue to consume, produce, and power our lives the way we are now, forests, weather systems, and our oceans will be overwhelmed and eventually collapse. Unsustainable agriculture, fisheries, infrastructure, mining and energy are leading us straight into an unprecedented loss of biodiversity, habitat degradation, pollution and climate change. The time for action is NOW. Let’s set an example for our communities and peers, because if we don’t make a positive change, then who will?
